Red Squadron
Admiral Will Collister - HMS Citadel "Locust" Corvette
Vice Admiral Darius Walker - HMS Discovery "Postillionen" Frigate
Captain Adria Hornblower - "Postillionen" Frigate
Captain Rachel Lockhart - "Postillionen" Frigate
After receiving orders from Admiral Collister, the fleet assembled in the Port of Bartica. We had our pursers load the hull with provisions and we set off heading W by N towards Caracas once again.
Along the way, the Admiral signaled the fleet to engage a Spanish Trade convoy of 6 ships between Port of Spain and Caracas. The crew were startled and surprised on the decision to attack a 6 ship strong fleet. The battle started and we formed our according battle line and sailed with the wind toward the enemy. We had the weather gauge, and things were looking good. We counted 3 escorts (myrmidons and a defiant) and 3 merchant ships. 1 by one we engaged the merchant ships first since they were slow and couldn't get away from our guns quick enough. Then we engaged the warships. Captain Lockhart( I believe) was bold enough to board one of the ships and was victorious. The rest of the squadron fired upon the remaining warships; the day was ours.
Feeling really good about our previous battle, we changed course and headed N by NE towards Bridgetown. V Admiral Walker was heavily damaged ( game crash) and was forced to stay behind as the others continued. If I am correct, they engaged another 3 ships (not sure of type) and were victorious.
At my arrival, we immediately spotted another 6 ship French Merchant Convoy. Surely 1 convoy of 6 was enough, but no! We engaged it head on. This battle was different than the first, as 2 of the squadron ships had accidentally over judged their speed, forgetting to reef tackle, and ended up directly behind the enemy's position just 100y away (we were spawned close). We made evasive maneuvers and regrouped 800y away and repaired. Then we came back and hit full force. Once again, one by one each ship struck their colors or were destroyed by members of the Red Squadron. Once again we were victorious.
Afterwards, Admiral Collister decided he should head back to port, and left myself In command. From then on we continued to patrol the area between Roseau and Fort de France, eliminating french convoys 3 or 2 at a time.
The first patrol of the Red Squadron went extremely well, my praise goes out to all of you who participated. Job well done!
-- Yours,
Vice Admiral Darius Walker
